CayMade: online marketplace for local makers
A WordPress and WooCommerce marketplace where independent makers in the Cayman Islands each have a store, built by Atif Bashir.
- WordPress
- WooCommerce
- WoodMart
- Marketplace

What the site had to do
CayMade brings local makers and small businesses together in one online shop: handmade goods, craft supplies and gifts. It is a marketplace, not a single shop, so it had to work for two groups. Buyers need to find things quickly and pay with confidence. Each maker needs a place of their own that still feels part of the whole.
What was built
Atif Bashir built the site on WordPress with WooCommerce.
- A shop that is easy to browse. A category menu, search with a category choice, a price filter, a choice of grid sizes and sorting.
- Gift tiles on the home page (for kids, for him, for her, events and gifts), and tabs for new, featured and top-selling products.
- Product pages with the usual helpers. Quick view, a wishlist, compare, and a cart.
- A store for every maker. A store list page, and a best-vendor list in the shop, so a buyer can follow a maker and not only a product.
- Accounts. Login and registration for buyers.
- Trust and help. An explanation of what CayMade is, notes on safe online payment and support, a contact page and social links.
- A look of its own. The warm illustration on the home page and the banners on each page carry the island theme across the site.
How it was built
WordPress, WooCommerce and the WoodMart theme, so the team can add makers, products and pages without a developer.
